Condition grades
Dialist uses one consistent scale so the same words mean the same thing on every listing. A grade is a starting point; the listing's own photos are the final word, and every watch is checked by hand before it reaches you.
Unworn
Never worn, in the condition it left the boutique.
- No signs of wear anywhere on the watch.
- Full set expected, with box and papers where they apply.
- May show light shelf traces on the packaging of older stock.
Excellent
Worn lightly and impeccably kept.
- No wear visible at arm's length.
- Only the faintest marks under close inspection.
- Case lines, chamfers, and engravings remain crisp.
Very Good
Honest, light wear from careful ownership.
- Small surface marks consistent with occasional wear.
- Bracelet or strap may show slight stretch.
- Markings and engravings clearly visible, not worn.
Good
Visible signs of everyday wear.
- Scratches, light scuffs, or a small dent may be present.
- Fully functional and ready to wear.
- Bracelet or strap may show noticeable stretch.
Fair
Heavier wear throughout, priced accordingly.
- Marks, scratches, and possible small dents across the watch.
- An honest, wearable piece rather than a collector example.
- Best judged from the listing's own photos.
The grade is not the last check. The watchmaker is.
After you buy, a Dialist watchmaker inspects the watch by hand against its listing and reference. If the condition does not match what was described, it does not continue to you.
