The Sky-Dweller is the most complicated watch Rolex makes: an annual calendar that knows the length of every month but February, a second time zone on a rotating 24-hour disc, and a fluted bezel that is also the control for setting all of it. It launched in 2012 in gold only, came to steel in 2017, and is 42 mm in every version.
Every Sky-Dweller on Dialist is listed by a verified dealer and covered by buyer protection. Start with the Steel Sky-Dweller with its white-gold bezel, or the Rose Gold on a rubber strap.
Turn the fluted bezel one click anticlockwise and the crown sets local time in one-hour jumps; two clicks and it sets the date and the month; three and it sets the reference time on the off-centre 24-hour disc. The month is read from twelve small windows above the hour markers, the current one filled in. The calendar needs correcting once a year, on 1 March. Rolex calls the two systems Ring Command and Saros, and together they carry a double-digit count of patents.
The 2012 launch was yellow gold, white gold and rose gold on leather, with the calibre 9001. Steel with a white-gold bezel and steel with yellow gold arrived in 2017 and made the watch attainable; a rubber strap replaced leather on the gold models in 2020 and a Jubilee bracelet became an option on the two-tone watches in 2021.
In 2023 Rolex moved the collection to the calibre 9002 with the Chronergy escapement, a redesigned dial with longer hands and rectangular indices, and new colours including mint green on steel. The 326xxx references became 336xxx. Jubilee bracelets reached the gold watches in 2024 and a bright green yellow-gold dial followed in 2025.
Materials
Steel with a white-gold fluted bezel is the entry point and the most traded. Two-tone pairs steel with yellow gold. Solid yellow, white and rose gold come on a bracelet or a rubber strap. Every bezel is precious metal because it is also the control.

Bracelets
Oyster on everything since 2012, Jubilee on two-tone since 2021 and gold since 2024, a rubber strap on gold since 2020, and leather on the 2012 to 2020 gold references. The bracelet is not in the reference number, so confirm it in the listing.
Dials
Black, white, blue and slate on steel; champagne on two-tone; chocolate, slate and blue-green on rose gold; and since 2023 mint green on steel and bright green on yellow gold. Pre-2017 gold watches have Arabic or Roman numeral dials that were dropped after.
Movements
The 326xxx references of 2012 to 2023 run the calibre 9001; the 336xxx references since 2023 run the 9002 with the Chronergy escapement. Both offer about 72 hours of reserve and the same functions; the 9002 brought the new dial.
Size
42 mm and around 14 mm thick in every version, with a 50 mm lug to lug. It wears smaller than the numbers suggest because of the short lugs, and about like a 40 mm Datejust in height.
