The Yacht-Master is the Rolex sports watch that dresses up: a bidirectional 60-minute bezel in platinum or gold with raised polished numerals, 100 metres of water resistance, and metals the Submariner never gets. It launched in 1992 in yellow gold and now comes in 37, 40 and 42 mm, in steel with a platinum bezel, two-tone, solid gold and, since 2023, titanium. The Yacht-Master II is the 44 mm regatta chronograph that shares the name.
Every Yacht-Master on Dialist is listed by a verified dealer and covered by buyer protection. Start with the Yacht-Master 40, the core of the collection, or the gold models on a Rubber Strap.
The 16628 of 1992 was Rolex's first new sports model since the Daytona and came only in yellow gold. The 16622 of 1999 introduced steel with a platinum bezel and dial, which Rolex calls Rolesium and buyers call the steel Yacht-Master; it is the reference that made the collection. Midsize 35 mm and 29 mm cases ran from 1994 to 2015.
The 116622 of 2012 modernised the 40 mm case, and 2015 brought the 116655 in rose gold on a rubber strap with a matte black ceramic bezel, the first Rolex on a rubber strap, alongside a new 37 mm case. The 126622 of 2019 moved the steel watch to the 70-hour calibre 3235, and the 42 mm case arrived the same year as the 226659 in white gold, followed by yellow gold in 2022 and the titanium 226627 in 2023, the lightest Yacht-Master at about 100 grams.
The Yacht-Master II of 2007 is a different watch: 44 mm, a programmable countdown of one to ten minutes set through the bezel, built for the start of a regatta. The first generation ran in gold, two-tone and steel until 2024; Rolex relaunched it in 2026 as the 126680 and 126688 with the calibre 4162.
Sizes
40 mm is the original and the widest choice; 42 mm is gold or titanium only, since 2019; 37 mm is the smaller case in two-tone, steel with platinum, and rose gold. The 44 mm Yacht-Master II is a separate, much larger watch.

Materials
Steel with a platinum bezel is the entry point and the best seller. Two-tone pairs steel with rose gold. Solid rose, white and yellow gold come on a rubber strap with a ceramic bezel. Titanium is the 42 mm 226627 only.
Dials
Slate (Rolex's dark rhodium) and bright blue on the steel watch, chocolate on the rose two-tone, black on the gold and titanium, white on the Yacht-Master II. The chocolate dial is the one buyers ask for by name.
Bracelets and straps
Oyster bracelet with the Easylink extension on steel and two-tone; a rubber strap with a Glidelock clasp on the gold and some 37 mm models. No Yacht-Master has ever come on a Jubilee.
Movements
The 40 and 42 mm watches run the calibre 3235 since 2019, the 3135 before; the 37 mm runs the 2236 with a silicon hairspring; the Yacht-Master II runs the 4160, 4161 and now 4162 with 72 hours of reserve.
